Summary: Officer Herrera was shot and killed while talking with a subject he had arrested earlier in that night. During their discussion a second subject snuck up behind him and grabbed his service weapon and used it to shoot him four times. The shooter then stabbed him three times, once through the heart. Officer Herrera was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was apprehended and charged with Officer Herrera's murder. The incident occurred in front of Officer Herrera's home. Officer Herrera had been a Special Officer with his agency for five years and served as a translat
